Kyoto, a city with a history of over 1200 years, is more than just home to Japanese culture but a place admired by the world.
Shrines, temples, and a number of historic buildings stand by the backdrop of surrounding mountains and a river flowing through the center of the city. Kyoto's breathtaking landscape is truly one-of-a-kind.
The beauty of the changing seasons enlightens Kyoto; spring is colored with cherry blossoms and autumn with fallen leaves. Traditional events such as Gion festival and Gozan no Okuribi are only a few of countless attractions the city offers.
Nonetheless, Kyoto's cultural beauty originated from the past and is not a gift of today.
Kyoto is considered to be a special place because of its historic value. On the other hand, there seem to be only a few initiatives to create something new.
How can these small initiatives expand quickly then?
To make this happen, we believe, these new initiatives need to be exposed widely to the world.
Not to follow the established image of "Kyoto", but to fuel the movement of creating new value, defying the stereotype of the ancient town.
What voice of KYOTO aims to do:
That is; to stay abreast of newly happening initiatives, to serve as a medium to promote them, and to send messages out to the world about Kyoto's new movement.
Founded on October 11, 2007 with this mission, voice of KYOTO will take action to the world.
